April 19: Last Day In Phnom Penh (Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda, and Food!).
My final day in Phnom Penh - finally! I was stuck so long because I wanted to arrange a proper visa for Thailand. However, when I arrived, they'd already closed for New Year's. Then, it took an additional four days to get the visa. So I spent ten whole days in the capitol! Just long enough for me to fall in love with the city and want to go back again. If only for the ice cream!
Now that New Year's is over, things opened back up. I went to tour the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. For the price, I was a bit underwhelmed. Am I missing something?
Yup, it's a palace.
I guess this is the silver pagoda?
Or that is. I guess I'm not really a temple person, and after Angkor Wat, I am totally templed out.
Cool pic though.
Ok, now we're getting there.
Pho from a little shack restaurant. No fancy minimart here, but a great bowl of noodles!
Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout, greens!
And back to my favorite restaurant for dessert - mixed fruits with a coconut cream on ice - oh my GOD this was good! That's jackfruit, dragonfruit, mango, lychee, and all sorts of good stuff!
Or you could choose the alternate ending - an awesome bowl of ice cream and a yummy iced coffee - grand total = $1.30. Happiness radar = unchartable.
