February 18-20: Out For A Winter Sierra Nevada Camping

Once again, back to the Sierra Nevadas for more mountaineering fun. The weather was brutally cold -- ended up getting minor frostbite on finger tips! Christi and I were there to clock in some hours on the mountain.

Here I am on the approach. Weather turned for the worse -- in full winter gear! We went up the North Fork route -- Whitney Mountaineering Route direction. Lower Boy Scout Lake is behind me. We camped near Upper Boy Scout Lake, ~11,000 ft, for 2 days and practiced some mountaineering stuff.

Christi in her winter gear -- goretex shell much needed!

The following morning, we hiked towards Whitney, but because we had started late in the day, we did not summit. It was COLD!!!!

We hiked out on Monday during a storm. I blew this photo up big because... if you look closely, you'll see Christi "smiling." What's up with that? It was COLD!!! Was she having a good time? Jeeez!!! Crazy gal!
